Well, despite the discouraging events of the past month or so, I'm not going to talk about them and instead, rehash some memories from my time in the Bahamas, which began July 18th, 2004.  There's nothing quite like cracking a coconut, snorkeling in the Atlantic, eating overly spicy hamburgers that you made for 30 people, putting shingles on a house in 120 degree weather, meeting a girl who you'd make a priority in the next year of your life, meeting her brother who happens to be one of your closest friends, getting absolutely torn apart by 12 year old bahamian children in a game of 21, sleeping with freaky looking bugs, cockroaches, and your youth pastor, watching lightning strike near your boat in the middle of the ocean, swimming in a bottomless hole of freshwater (apparently with sharks), trying to harness uncooperative young kids during vacation bible school, playing the role of David, who was rumored to be Japanese in the play, visiting one of the most expensive hotels in the world, where Hulk Hogan was rumored to be staying at the time (Hogan knows best, one of the most retarded shows on tv by the way), holding crabs in the middle of the road, watching some gangly man carve up some sugarcane, taking a shower outside, sanding and priming with very little clothing on, and more things that I'm forgetting.  I realize that no one really cares too much, and I don't blame you, but I wanted to write about it somewhere.

I was in Africa for 6 weeks and I totally know what you're talking about...!!

...except the hamburgers.  There really was no eatable cow.  Nope, none.

Some chickens... but those were scrawny.

And definitely really nothing spicy.

But kids.  Sugarcane. Taking showers outsides.  Sanding & priming.  Yeah, I hear you.  And it sucks how you can't make anyone see how awesome it was cuz they just...weren't there.  And pictures don't cut it.

THE BAHAMAS!!?!?!?!?! THE BAHAMAS?!?!?! I TOTALLY FORGOT you were going to the Bahamas!!!! Crikey, well I'm glad you had a good time and all. Gotta love the outdoor showers, eh? Did yuo taste sugarcane perchance? It's a dentist's nightmare (what with the woody texture and the sugar bath for the teeth) but kind of tastes good. I think I would choose candy over it any day, but it's an experience, ripping the tough bark off with your bare teeth, then gnawing on the fibery stalk  and letting the juice squish through the teeth.....

What else is on the menu for the summer?
